(1955-'57) and won three Southern 500s at Darlington. After retiring from the sport in 1976 after nearly 40 years of competition in the Winston Cup ranks, Buck opened a driving school at Rockingham where he schooled hundreds of would-be racers on the sand-swept high banks at "The Rock." His first victory came in l952, when he drove a Hudson Hornet to win on the Columbia, SC half-mile. He won a total of 46 races in 636 starts, and claimed 44 poles. He finished in the top-10 378 times in those 636 starts.
